Sadly, the answer seems to be “maybe???”. Certainly lots of vertical scrolling seems to be the new design trend, especially for those in the “mobile-first” camp. But as Jason points out – the most recent usability study on scrolling is from the Bush administration. At this point it seemed as if a quarter of all users still never scrolled down on a web site, and we have no statistical evidence to prove definitively that this has changed.
